Hey there! In this video, I'm going to teach you how to get Upwork clients in 2-3 days without using up your connects.
Now subject alone hints that you shouldn't really be using that many connects to get clients... and that's actually a big mistake Upwork freelancers make!
They have a mentality that the more proposals you send, the greater your chances of winning projects, and while there's some truth to that, it often comes at the cost of quality.
So, start trading quality for quantity.
Instead of sending 5-10 (usually templated proposals, let's be honest) in an hour, try spending more time for just 2. That's 30 minutes for each proposal.
This means you should invest more time learning about the client, their business, their problems, and where you fit in—really personalize each proposal for every client.
Now, "where you fit in" means you should be vetting clients, okay?
As a freelancer, you should feel empowered to choose who you work with. Don't send a proposal for every project you see! Again, try to learn more about the client first before sending proposals.
Another tip is to go for fresh postings.
Try sending proposals to projects that have been created within 5 to 30 minutes. Now, these are not absolute boundaries, and you can feel free to send proposals to older postings.
Your goal here is simply to get in your potential client's radar before anyone else.
Okay, so quick recap:
- Spend more time with every proposal. If you rush through it, clients will know. They can smell mediocrity from miles away!
- Vet the projects that you're going to apply to.
- Go for fresh project postings!
